WHAT IS HYPNOSIS?

Hypnosis is a perfectly natural form of relaxation
which leads to a trance state. We experience this light trance state every day as we fall asleep or as we awake. It is rather like daydreaming or losing oneself in a good book or finding you have arrived at your destination and not quite remembering how you got there.

It is an altered state of consciousness that, with the skill of the therapist, can be used for therapeutic purposes such as habit breaking, building self esteem or dealing with pain. It allows access to the unconscious part of the mind where the patterns are laid down for many behaviours both beneficial and problematic.

No one can be hypnotised against their will, hypnosis relies on co-operation between the patient and the therapist, it is a pleasant state of relaxation where change to unconscious patterns can be effected painlessly, The patient is always aware and able to awake from the trance at any time.
